TUCSON, Ariz. - El Tour de Tucson organizer Perimeter Bicycling Association of American, Inc. has paid its debt to the county, allowing the race to continue.
According to the county, Perimeter paid the county $180,000 in overdue invoices for support services including control barricades.
Before Perimeter paid up, the county notified the company that it was considering legal action.
Now that the debt is settled, legal action is off the table, the county says.
"We are pleased Perimeter Bicycling has finalized its financial obligation to the taxpayers of Pima County,” said Pima County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry, in a statement. “Pima County has long provided financial and operational support to Perimeter and its annual El Tour de Tucson bicycle race because we recognize the value it provides to the community.”
El Tour de Tucson started in 1983. For more information on the event, click here.
