DUI driver who crashed into deputy gets 7.5 years

A man who was drunk when he crashed his vehicle into a Pima County Sheriff's deputy in April will serve 7.5 years.

Daniel Doubek was sentenced Tuesday in Pima County Superior Court. The incident took place at the Pima County Fair.

According to authorities, Doubek hit deputy Jesus Vivaldo, who recovered from serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Doubek pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with serious physical injury, leaving the scene after causing an accident resulting in death or serious physical injury, criminal damage, DUI and driving with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more.
