TUCSON, Ariz. - A Douglas man was sentenced to 10 years in prison in a child porn case.

Former Mexican police officer Uriel Gonzalez-Perez, 32, was sentenced to 120 months in prison.

On Dec. 6, 2017, authorities say Gonzalez-Perez was stopped at the Douglas Port of Entry. He had 500 .50 caliber BMG links, which are prohibited from being transported across the border without a license. Investigators found that Gonzalez-Perez and two others were falsifying paperwork to buy guns and ammunition in the U.S., then selling them in Meixco.

Authorities searched Gonzales-Perez's cell phone and found several child porn pictures and videos. Detectives tracked down a woman who appeared in the videos, who was the child's mother and lived in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. Mexican authorities arrested the woman, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison in Mexico.

In addition to his child porn sentence, Gonzales-Perez was sentenced to 46 months in prison for false statements. The two sentences will run concurrently.
