Tucson police responded to a rollover collision just after 7 a.m. on Saturday morning on East Golf Links near South Craycroft.

As officers arrived they located three cars that were involved in the collision.

An 18-year-old driver was pronounced dead on scene. A 16-year-old passenger traveling with the 18-year-old was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later succumbed to injuries.

A 34-year-old driver of another vehicle was also transported to the hospital with serious injuries. A 61-year-old driver of the third vehicle involved in the collision was not injured.

Detectives were able to determine that the 18-year-old driver was driving a 2012 Jeep Compass eastbound on Golf Links, east of Craycroft with a 16-year-old passenger.

The 18-year-old drove through a break in the median and began to head eastbound in the westbound lanes of travel.

The 18-year-old's Jeep Compass then struck the 34-year-old's Ford truck that was traveling westbound on Golf Links in the middle lane. The Ford truck rolled over and then struck the 61-year-old's Chevy truck that was traveling in the curb lane.

Detectives say that speed does not appear to be a factor in this collision. Everyone who was involved in this collision were wearing their seatbelts.

The 18-year-old driver has been identified as Travis Childress.
