Construction crews will close down eastbound Interstate 10 east of Tucson Tuesday night, forcing drivers to take a 67-mile detour.
Crews will replace a bridge on I-10 between Tucson and Benson. The closure will go from 9 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Westbound I-10 drivers headed toward Tucson should expect the trip to take as much as two hours longer. Eastbound drivers won't be affected.
The project is the first of two scheduled closures in a $15.1 million project to replace the bridge at Davidson Canyon between State Route 83 and State Route 90. The detour will take drivers south on SR 90 via Exit 302, then west on SR 82 to Sonoita and north on SR 83 to reconnect with I-10 at Exit 281.
