On March 24, 2026, just after 6:40 a.m., deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) Vail District responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Sahuarita Road and Melpomene Way, the PCSD said in a statement.
A preliminary investigation by PCSD Traffic Unit detectives indicates the driver of a red SUV was traveling westbound on Sahuarita Road and attempted to make a left turn onto Melpomene Way. During the turn, the SUV entered the path of an eastbound semi-truck, which struck the right side of the vehicle.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene. She has been identified as 62-year-old Andrea Harris.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
The investigation indicates neither speed nor impairment were factors in this crash. This crash remains under investigation.
