A couple woke up to escape a westside house fire early Tuesday morning.
According to Tucson Fire Capt. Barrett Baker, the sound of an explosion woke up the couple -- a man and woman in their 50s -- at about 2:40 a.m. Firefighters were on the scene, in the 600 block of West Cabot Drive, at 2:47 and had the blaze under control at 2:56.
The flames damaged the home's laundry and storage area. Neighbors called 911 to report the fire.
The couple is staying with their daughter while repairs are made. The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.
