Ashley Fry and Kyle McConnell will both serve several years in jail for their parts in the June 2015 injury of Fry's 2-year-old son.

Ashley Fry was sentenced to serve 4.5 years, with 521 days credit, for child abuse -- death or serious physical injury likely. Kyle McConnell will serve 7.5 years on the same count, with 520 days credit. Both Fry and McConnell confessed to the crime as part of a plea agreement.

After Fry is released she will serve 15 years of probation and 400 hours of community service. After McConnell's release he will serve 10 years of probation and 400 hours of community service.

They received the sentences Tuesday in Pima County Superior Court.

Fry and McConnell were arrested after the boy was hospitalized with severe head injuries. He was later released from the hospital. The boy was bruised in what authorities say was intentional abuse.
