Thousands of Tucson city employees have more than turkey to celebrate this week, confirmed Lisa Markkula, Mayor Jonathan Rothschild's spokeswoman.
Due in part to a $9.4 million surplus in the city budget, full-time employees with at least one year of experience will receive $1,000 bonuses. Part-timers will receive smaller bonuses that correlate with the amount of hours they work.
In total, about 4,000 city workers received the checks Wednesday.
