CBP officers seize nearly $96,000 of unreported U.S. currency and hard drugs at the Port of Nogales

TUCSON, Ariz. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized hard drugs and unreported U.S. currency at the port of Nogales over the weekend.

According to the agency, officers at the Mariposa Crossing stopped a 28-year-old Mexican man who was driving a Toyota sedan on Sunday afternoon. A canine detected drugs in the rocker panels. Officers removed ten pounds of heroin, 27 pounds of methamphetamine, and one and a half pound of fentanyl.

In a separate incident, on Friday evening officers at the Mariposa Crossing stopped a 26-year-old Mexican male who was driving a Ford sedan and his 28-year-old U.S. citizen passenger for inspection. Officers discovered two large packages of unreported U.S. currency amounting in $96,000 in the vehicles rear seats.

Officers seized the drugs and vehicles, then turned over the individuals to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
