Two Sierra Vista women rescued a drowning boy by performing CPR on him.
According to Sierra Vista Fire, the incident happened March 26. The 2-year-old victim nearly drowned at an apartment complex pool.
“We didn’t know what we were doing, but we did it,” Cierra Walker said in a statement. “He’s a baby, you don’t give up on a child."
Walker worked with her longtime friend, Kisha Hernandez, to perform CPR until first responders arrived. Hernandez had taken CPR courses, so she coached Walker through the process.
"I’m just glad he’s OK … He opened his eyes and we cried," Walker said in a statement. “It’s a beautiful feeling to know that he’s still here."
City officials commended the women in a ceremony Friday.
