TUCSON, Ariz. - It has been a fall tradition for 30 years -- heading to Three Points for the Pumpkin Patch and Festival at the Buckelew Family Farm.
The family decided to end the Pumpkin Festival but other fall events at the farm will still go on.
Riding through the Pumpkin Patch and picking the perfect pumpkin was a cherished tradition for a lot of families.
It was something the Buckelew family cherished too but Clint Buckelew says it required months of work by his parents and they decided it was time to retire.
“30 years. I mean, it's good a run, you know, my parents are getting up there in age. And I talked to them yesterday, and they were floating a river in Montana. So, you know, they, you know, they've, they knew that this was their last year. And we knew that going into last year that, you know, this is going to be a transition year, and we got to kind of figure out what we want to do. But, you know, just cherish the memories, I would say.”
The farm's not done building memories but they might be scary memories.
Clint's going to concentrate on continuing and keeping the right mix of terror in the popular Terror in the Corn, corn maze.
There a lot of work left but a lot of the right fright materials are coming together out on the farm.
A collection of bones and twisted trees will be lighted to max out the scare factor---accented by the creepy blades of death.
Clint Buckelew says, “And we also have the flashlight night bike in the corn maze. So if you don't want the terror side of it, you can still enjoy the corn maze, which has been traditional for you know, during the daytime too, so they can do the scavenger hunt. And there's a lot of games for the kids and in the corn maze. So it's still kind of becoming more of a family friendly event at night it's just whether you choose to partake in the terror side of it."
Oh, and another event that's still on: The zombie mud run.
Buckelew Farm needs actors for the Terror in the Corn Maze. They’re hiring tomorrow, Saturday September 7, starting at 9am. The address is 17000 W. Ajo Road. You can learn more about requirements at this link.
