TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - U.S. Border Patrol agents seized nearly 1,500 pounds of marijuana in a pair of weekend incidents in Lukeville and Douglas.
According to the Border Patrol, agents near Lukeville Friday found footprints left by illegal entrants. Agents tracked the footprints and caught up with the group. They arrested 19 people and seized 920 pounds of marijuana.
On Saturday, agents near Douglas watched several people cross the border with large bundles common to drug traffickers. When agents approached, the people left their packages behind. Agents seized 563 pounds of marijuana and a rifle from the baggage.
