Border officers seize drugs near Nogales

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested two Nogales, Son. on suspicion of smuggling heroin and meth through the Port of Nogales last weekend.

The arrests were separate incidents.

On Friday, officers at the Nogales Commercial Facility arrested 34-year-old Sinuel Gonzalez-Dominuez after he allegedly hid nearly 155 pounds of meth inside a tractor-trailor load of cucumbers.

On Sunday, officers at the Dennis DeConcini crossing arrested 20-year-old Elevier Lara-Ruiz after allegedly finding more than 23 pounds of meth and 15 pounds of heroin hidden inside his truck.

Officers seized the drugs and vehicles and turned both suspects over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
