Blowing dust along I-10 near San Simon that caused several crashes in May has cost the state of Arizona nearly $600,000 to mitigate.

The Department of Environmental Quality spent at least $288,000 on watering and stabilizing the soil on the farm near San Simon that belongs to David Turner according to ADEQ Caroline Oppleman.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says they spent $307,667.83 to mitigate the dust according to Tom Hermann.

The ADEQ is now considering fining Turner for not managing his land.
