PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona Congressman Ruben Gallego is throwing his support behind an impeachment inquiry for President Donald Trump.
The Phoenix Democrat said Thursday on the House floor that Congress has a responsibility to pick up where special counsel Robert Mueller left off.
He says Mueller presented compelling evidence that Trump obstructed justice but was prevented from prosecuting a sitting president. But he says a congressional impeachment inquiry shouldn't be limited to Mueller's findings.
Gallego says no president "has ever been subject to as many credible allegations of illegal conduct."
Gallego is the third Arizona member of congress to support an impeachment inquiry following Democrats Greg Stanton and Raul Grijalva.
Trump calls the investigation a "witch hunt" by his opponents.
