Abortion bill set for Arizona Senate hearings

Posted
A bill targeting Planned Parenthood is among three anti-abortion measures set for hearings before Arizona Senate committees.

Senate Bill 1485 by Senate President Andy Biggs bars state employees from using payroll deductions to donate to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood and is being heard Wednesday.

Republican Sen. Nancy Barto's Senate Bill 1474 makes it illegal for an abortion provider to sell or otherwise transfer a human fetus or embryo for use in research. It will be heard in the Health and Human Services committee.

Senate Bill 1324 will be heard in the same committee. It would bar taking the most commonly used drugs to induce abortions after seven weeks of pregnancy, matching state law with the current Food and Drug Administration labeling. An earlier version has been declared unconstitutional.
