The technique calls for some drivers to merge at the last possible moment in a lane closure, in an every-other-car pattern. But not all drivers are following the rules, and many others are left confused.

Tracy Andres Lundin Ha!!!!! No one will do this. People don't even know what to do when the signals at an intersection are out.

Linda Haukaas Everyone going to be fighting to get over

Lisa Sapp - Gumowskyj I’ve known this for years, basic common sense. Who didn’t know this?!

A few drivers KGUN 9 Reporter Jennifer Martinez spoke with say they believe the technique will be successful. "I think it will be if everyone uses it - keep two lanes of traffic moving as long as possible. People will understand it and know how to use it," says Matthew Coffer.

Another driver, Oscar Gonzalez says, he just wants it to be over. "I have seen drivers that let you in all the time - there are some that will speed up a little bit but most of the time they let you in.
