Though the numbers aren't final yet, Scripps and Red Cross did reach their goal of 17 pints of donated blood, comprised of 16 whole bloods and one power red.
The first 25 donors received a free 1 large 1-topping pizza courtesy of Papa Murphy's Pizza.
El Conquistador also hosted a raffle for a certificate to eat at the Sundance Café (breakfast buffet for 2)
Additional raffles included 2 tickets to the UA vs. ASU football game on November 24th, a 4-pack of tickets to a Roadrunners game and a 2-pack.
This blood drive came at a crucial time of year for the Red Cross. Long holiday weekends, like Thanksgiving, may cause many donors who are traveling to be with family and friends to be less available to give. However, patients don’t get a holiday break from needing lifesaving transfusions. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.
