3 ways to save on car repairs

With this summer heat, we're not the only ones overheating -- our vehicles are struggling, too.

I found an article on Cheapismwith all sorts of ways to keep your vehicle out of the repair shop...and I’m talking tips beyond changing your oil!

First, did you know you can make your own windshield washer fluid?

The main ingredient is water. Add simple things like alcohol and ammonia and voila -- homemade windshield washer fluid.

Also, you'd be surprised at how easy it is to change the air filter yourself.

Spend about $10 on the filter, add about five minutes of work and save yourself at least 40 bucks.

Plus there are lots of places like Auto Zone that let you borrow tools, for a fee of course. If you won't use the tools again, it doesn't make sense to spend the money to buy them, unless you plan on selling them later.
