TUCSON, Ariz. — Five local educators were honored with the "Teacher Excellence Award" this week from the Tucson Values Teachers organization.
This year, students were asked for video submissions of how their teachers went above and beyond as an educator.
Recipients received flowers, $100 gift card for school supplies, a $50 Office Depot gift card and $300 in cash.
The five recipients were:
- Monica Baden, a GEM teacher at Twin Peaks K-8
- Corinne Angello, a culinary arts teacher at Mountain View High School
- Amanda Campbell. 2nd grade teacher at Canyon View Elementary
- Jennifer Knight, 1st grade teacher at Soleng Tm Elementary School
- Kasie Betten, an English teacher at Desert View High School
