It's the season of giving, and some anonymous Salvation Army donors have gone above and beyond in Northeast Wisconsin.

The organization said volunteers found a South African Krugerrand in the Red Kettle at Festival Foods in De Pere, Wisconsin. The gold coin is worth about $1,200.

Wisconsin volunteers also found ten $100 bills in the Red Kettle at Festival Foods in Green Bay.

“It’s the last week of the Red Kettles and it’s always exhilarating for our volunteers to find these generous donations, especially as we work to meet our goal,” said Major Bob Mueller, County Coordinator for The Salvation Army in a press release. “We’re still behind our goal for the season, so these gifts are truly special and make a significant impact on our basic needs programming that help thousands of clients throughout the year.”

So far, the Red Kettles in the Green Bay area have brought in $162,160, which is 43% of the $375,000 goal.
