This is a good news-bad news story.

First, the good news: The Girl Scouts of USA revealed Tuesday that their organization was adding a new cookie to the 2019 lineup.

Move over, Tagalongs, Thin Mints and Samoas. Welcome, Caramel Chocolate Chip.

The new creation is gluten-free and made with caramel, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and "a hint of sea salt in a chewy cookie."

Now, the not-so-good news: it will not be sold in Arizona.

How come? We reached out to a local spokesperson. Here is what we learned:

The Girl Scouts organization is made up of different councils and those councils get their cookies from one of two licensed suppliers: Little Brownie Bakers or ABC Bakers.

There are two councils in Arizona: Girl Scouts-Arizona Cactus-Pine Council, which serves the Valley and Northern Arizona, and Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona, which serves the southern half of the state.

Both are supplied by Little Brownie Bakers. They carry S'mores, Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Do-si-dos, Savannah Smiles, and Toffee-tastic (gluten-free).

The caramel chocolate chip cookie is part of ABC Bakers.

Both bakeries do have some cookie overlap: Samoas at Little Brownie Bakers are known as Caramel DeLites at ABC Bakers, Tagalongs are called Peanut Butter Patties, Trefoils are Shortbread, and Do-si-dos are known as Peanut Butter Sandwich.

Both have S'mores, but the cookies themselves are different.

So when do Girl Scout cookies go on sale in Arizona?

The Arizona Cactus-Pine Council cookie season runs Jan. 21 - March 3, 2019.

The Southern Arizona Council's cookie season runs Jan. 19th - March 3, 2019.
