Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents are near the town of Lukeville conducting what seems to be a major joint operation with Mexico.

ICE spokeswoman Gillian Christensen confirmed the operation but would not reveal additional information, saying via email "I don't have anything I can share right now but will circle back with you when I am in a position to do so."

A viewer called KGUN and said the scene has been developing all morning, involving intermittent road closures. Federal Mexican Blackhawk choppers are hovering over the scene.

ICE spokeswoman Gillian M. Christensen gave KGUN9 this statement:

"ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents, working in conjunction with our law enforcement partners from other federal agencies, several Arizona agencies and the government of Mexico, are assisting Mexican authorities with an arrest operation. As this is an ongoing investigation, no further details are available at this time."

"The operation targets criminal elements and organizations operating in and around Sonoyta, Mexico."
