South Tucson police arrested a woman who allegedly bit a man while shoplifting in South Tucson.

Police say 36-year-old Mary Louise Shidezhi Derrick -- also known as Mary L. Tovar -- robbed the Circle K at 2004 S. 6th Ave. multiple times between July 21 and 25.

In one of the incidents, she bit a man who tried to stop her from leaving the store.

Pima County Sheriff's deputies arrested Derrick July 28 after she allegedly robbed two other Circle K stores. She was booked into jail as Jane Doe, but deputies saw media coverage and recognized her as the alleged South Tucson biting bandit.

Derrick faces charges including aggravated shoplifting and burglary.

The Pima County Attorney's office will determine if assault or robbery charges are added.
