Firefighters put out a fire at the Pima County Fairgrounds early Friday morning.

According to Corona de Tucson Fire representative Todd Cupell, the call came in at 4:30 a.m.

Between 150 and 250 hay pallets caught on fire near the horse corrals.

Crews from Corona de Tucson, Rincon and Rural/Metro put out the blaze quickly. No horses were injured.

A trash collection crew spotted the fire.

The Pima County Fair is scheduled to go on as planned Friday.

The Fair released this statement:

There was a brief incident early this morning after a pile of pallets caught fire in
the maintenance compound. The maintenance compound is not in a public access
area and is away from livestock and the fair proper.

The Corona Fire Department was contacted at approximately 5:00 a.m. and the fire was quickly distinguished. The incident is under further investigation.
We are looking forward to a great day at the fair!
