TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Isolated to scattered afternoon and early evening thunderstorms are expected across Southeast Arizona through Monday before storm chances decrease for much of the remainder of the work week.
Any thunderstorms that develop could produce strong, gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall.
High temperatures will remain well above normal through the week, with an Extreme Heat Warning in effect for much of Southeast Arizona.
Monday morning will start warm across much of Pima County.
Tucson is forecast to see an overnight low around 79 degrees. Communities including Ajo, Santa Rosa and Organ Pipe are expected to remain even warmer, with lows in the 80s.
Across Cochise County, temperatures will start off cooler. Sierra Vista is forecast to wake up to a low near 70 degrees, while communities including Willcox and Benson are expected to see overnight lows in the upper 60s.
Afternoon temperatures will climb sharply, with extreme heat continuing across the region.
Tucson is forecast to reach a high near 103 degrees Monday afternoon.
Across Cochise County, Sierra Vista is expected to warm into the mid-90s, with a forecast high of 95 degrees.
