TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — West of town, Speedway Boulevard is undergoing a large improvement from Painted Hills Road to Camino de Oeste.
Pima County's contractor for the work is widening the roadway and adding shoulders.
The problem is the narrow channel that travel must pass through.
Flag persons alternate east/west travel four days a week, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Delays of at least 5 minutes, sometimes more, are common.
The best alternate is Ironwood Hill, between Silverbell and Camino de Oeste.
Paving work is scheduled for mid-March.
