With theCOVID-19 pandemic making delivery services more important than ever, UPS plans to hire at least 50,000 people in its annual one-day “UPS Brown Friday” hiring blitz on Friday, October 30. It’s part of the company’s broader effort to hire over 100,000 seasonal workers to support this year’s anticipated record surge in package volume.
Nearly a month before Black Friday and Cyber Monday, thousands who attend one of nearly 250 virtual and in-person Brown Friday hiring events will have a seasonal job by the following Monday. And at a time when millions of Americans are out of work, many of those hired could be starting a new career with UPS.
37% of UPS seasonal workers last year came back to a permanent job after the holidays. About 123,000 UPS employees – nearly a third of the company’s U.S. workforce – started in seasonal positions.
