Springtime has long been associated with the act of decluttering and this year, there is no doubt that many people will try to ‘spark joy’ by parting with items they no longer need. But why just toss those items when you could make some serious cash selling them online? While you're at it, why not look locally for something to refresh your space? After all, no one wants to pay those pesky shipping costs.

  • You can start spring cleaning in minutes, using apps you already have on your phone. Just snap a few photos, write a brief description, and name your price. You can message buyers and even receive payment on Messenger.
  • Not sure what to sell? Spring is the perfect time to sell seasonal items such as winter coats and boots that will likely last kids only one year. In turn, you can score deals on items to be used in the warmer weather.
  • Once you've cleared some room, give your home a new look by refreshing your space with home decor and furniture sourced locally. Type in a search for what you're looking for - end tables, artwork, mirrors, and more - then narrow it down by price and what's nearest to you.
  • It's also a good time to spring clean your finances. Decluttering means more money in your pocket, which you can use to pay down debts, contribute to retirement, or create an emergency fund.
