TUCSON, Ariz. — Back in December, history was made, but now you get to taste the creation.

Borderlands Brewing Company is tapping into the Las Hermanas IPA during its release party from 5 - 7 p.m. on Friday, January 17.

Last month, Ayla Kapahi of Borderlands Brewing Company and Sandra Navarro of Turulata Brewing Company led their crews, with the same recipe, and at each other's brewery to create a collaborative craft beer — in this instance, it's going to be a Hazy IPA, also known as Las Hermanas.

Their collaboration made history because it was the first all-female bi-national brewing project.

"This women's collaborative brew is about more than brewing beer. We're building international relationships and celebrating Mexico's fast-growing craft beer scene. It's important to continue to highlight women and minorities in the craft beer industry,” Ayla of Borderlands Brewing Company said.

That's pretty sweet, right?

Speaking of sweet, the Las Hermanas IPA should have a hint of sweetness, which is a hazy, tropical, and juicy brew.

“This is a great opportunity to show women are playing an important role in craft brewing and to further the conversation on diversity in the brewing industry. With Las Hermanas we are transcending borders, sharing knowledge, and investing in our brew,” Sandra Navarro of Turulata Brewing Company said.

The release party is free to attend and there will be food available to purchase, too.

Borderlands Brewing Company is located at 119 E. Toole Ave. For more information, visit borderlandsbrewing.com.
