These latest deaths from lightning brings the total number of lightning fatalities to 32 — the most since 2009.

In the last 10 years, an average of 31 people have died from lightning strikes each year.

Overall, lightning deaths have been on the decline over the years, but this year, the U.S. seems to be experiencing a recent uptick.

Of course, it's nothing compared to the 300 reindeer killed by lightning in Norway earlier this week.
