Posted

The middle of the country is getting an early taste of the dog days of summer the second half of this week.

The National Weather Service has issued heat advisories and excessive heat warnings from Texas and Louisiana up to Nebraska and Iowa.

Temperatures in the Plains and parts of the Midwest are expected to reach high temperatures well into the 90s, but the humidity will make it feel like temperatures are in the triple digits.

With the dangerous heat building, it's important to stay cool and drink plenty of water to avoid heat-related illnesses like heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

The dangerous hot weather should subside in the middle of the country by early next week, just in time for the beginning of summer.
