6th ranked Catalina Foothills faced top ranked Scottsdale Saguaro this morning at the University of Phoenix Stadium. It was tough day for the Falcons.  Saguaro led by 5 touchdowns at halftime in Rhett Rodriguez’s final high school game, falling in the state title game 42-14. The senior threw for 105 yards, completing 15 of 20 passes and accounted for both the Falcons’ touchdowns.

Despite the loss, Rhett remained poised in defeat saying after the game “A couple years ago, before my freshman year, we're 0-10.  We were like the laughing stock of Tucson and here we are in the championship.  Even though we didn't win, we made it here, Foothills has never even been to the semis so obviously it was a great season and we turned it around and I’m proud of the guys.”

Head coach Jeff Scurran didn’t try to pontificate about his future with the team, saying after the game that each year is independent of itself and he’d take a break for now to enjoy the success he had this season with his family.
