PREVIEW: Arizona vs. BYU Season season opener

and last updated
Arizona football opens its season on Saturday in the Cactus Kickoff against BYU.  The Wildcats kickoff the 2016 season at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Rich Rodriguez has yet to name a starting quarterback.  The head coach did reveal he would consider splitting reps between Anu Solomon and Brandon Dawkins throughout the season.

The Cougars' offense will be lead by Taysom Hill, a 26-year old senior quarterback.   Hill suffered a Lisfranc injury to his right foot in the first half of his team's first game last season.

Fans will get a look at Arizona's brand new defense, lead by an entirely new defensive staff.  Marcel Yates, the Wildcats new defensive coordinator, will be coaching from the coaches booth rather than the sideline.

Arizona will honor beloved teammate Zach Hemmila, who passed away in early August in his sleep.  There will be a pregame ceremony with members of Hemmila's family before kickoff.  The Arizona Wildcats will also wear helmet decals with "ZH" and Hemmila's number "65."  The coaches' hats will include patches throughout the season.

There will be a second ceremony before kickoff of Arizona's home opener against Grambling State on September 10th, where there will be a jersey dedication in the stadium.
