Sabino High School assistant principal Jay Campos announced his successor this afternoon to the football team.

Defensive coordinator Ryan McBrayer was promoted to head coach of the Sabercats, after undergoing several rounds of interviews.  McBrayer has been around Sabino for a long time, once attending as a student in 2003, and returning to join Campos' coaching staff for the last two seasons.

Campos made the decision to resume a full time assistant principal role, deciding to leave his coaching position at Sabino at seasons end last year.

"I've grown up quite a bit, and I've been with him every step of the way.  And I've learned a lot  from him," says McBrayer.  "I've taken a lot of the concepts and ideals that he's instilled in his program and culture and hope to keep carrying them on and be the successful Sabino program that we are."

Sabino finished the season 12-2 last year.
