TUCSON, Ariz — New Orleans based attorney Craig Mordock spoke to KGUN 9 following the plea agreement his client, former Arizona Basketball assistant coach Book Richardson, agreed to on Monday.

Richardson pleaded guilty to one count of federal funds bribery.

"It's obviously a sad day for the Richardson family and Book," said Mordock. "It's an important step in that he is going to be accepting responsibility."

All other charges were dropped. Richardson is likely to face an eighteen to twenty four month sentence.

"You have to keep in mind that he has positively affected the lives of many people in Tucson," added Mordock.

In Richardson's plea deal, he is not obligated to to cooperate with prosecutors.

"What he did in the summer of 2017 is something he di, but it's not the person who Book is."
