After a tough season for Rich Rodriguez and Arizona football, National Signing Day brings excitement for a new season ahead.
“The pursuit of football players is a daily endeavor at Arizona”, says Rodriguez.
Today, at the Lowell Stevens football facility, the school announced the addition of 23 players to the program in hopes of turning Arizona football around.
“We’ve got to learn from what happened and why it happened and then try to make sure it doesn't happen again”, says Rodriguez.
With all the excitement that surrounds National Signing Day, says Rodriguez also took the opportunity to express what he sees as flaws in the recruitment process.
“All the AD's out there listening, or presidents of the University are listening, if you want to save your program money, get out of this ridiculous circus that is National Signing Day.”
Rich Rod noted that as of 12:30 this afternoon, 757 recruits in D-1 schools had de-committed. And, since Willie Taggert was hired as head coach at Oregon, Arizona had 4 commits flip to the Ducks.
“I never worry about the one's you don't get,” says Rodriguez.
Stepping off his self-proclaimed soap box, Rich Rod is hoping for an immediate impact.
“I’m pretty, pretty happy that we're getting the help right now.”
