TUCSON, Arizona — The Pac-12 CEO group will vote next Thursday as to whether it will begin sports competition earlier than January 1st.

As of now, the Pac-12 is the only Power Five conference to not have a start date for football. While the conference was going to wait until January 1st, a recent partnership with Quidel will make rapid, daily, coronavirus testing available.

On Wednesday, governors of both California and Oregon said there would be no restrictions in place at the state level that would prevent the Pac-12 from beginning full contact practice.

If the Pac-12 can start football in late October or early November, it could align itself enough with the rest of college football to be part of a potential postseason.
