The FC Tucson women were unable to hold a late 1-0 lead, losing to San Diego in its home opener at Kino Stadium.

In the 8th minute, FC Tucson's Paige Crouch scored on a penalty kick after a handball in the box. It turned out to be Tucson's only goal.

FC Tucson goalie Lainey Burdett, an Arizona Wildcat, held San Diego scoreless until the 82nd minute. That's when San Diego's Andrea Duke tied it a one. Six minutes later, Elise Britt made it 2-1 Sea Lions, and that's how it ended.

The ladies return home Saturday night to face the L.A. Galaxy.
