TUCSON, Arizona — FC Tucson is borrowing the drive-in movie experience as it's taking the pitch to the big screen.

Tucson's professional soccer team will play its home opener on Saturday against Union Omaha. Due to the pandemic, fans won't be able to attend at Kino Stadium. Therefore, the team has made it so fans can watch on a big screen at El Torro Flicks.

"It’s a safe experience," said FC Tucson Director of Soccer Operations Jon Pearlman. "It’s the only pro sports team that is playing sports right now in town. I think it’s a cause for celebration that we can safely come together and celebrate our beautiful downtown and our beautiful team."

FC Tucson says it has had six rounds of coronavirus testing and not one player has tested positive. The USL team enters the game with a 1-1 record, after winning at Fort Lauderdale and losing at Chattanooga.
