Tonight, the Coaches for Charity kickoff classic helped kickoff the Tucson high school football season.
The signature game featured Sunnyside hosting Nogales.
In a much different matchup then last year, which was almost postponed due to weather, it was hot and dry at kickoff at Sunnyside. The Blue Devils were looking to avenge their one point loss to the Apaches last year, losing 19-18 last season.
Sunnyside started strong, scoring the first touchdown of the game. But Nogales kept answering back, highlighted by a 64 yard touchdown from Josue Tapia to Ivan Romero to put the Apaches on top, 16-13.
Sunnyside answered back, scoring a touchdown on their ensuing drive, but missing the extra point.
Sunnyside led 19-16 at halftime. The Blue Devils went on to win, 36-16.
