Arizona closed out the regular season with a bang, defeating 12th-ranked UCLA 7-2 to clinch its 11th conference championship in program history, and first since 2007.
Danielle O'Toole (27-4) was dominant for Arizona. The senior allowed just two runs on four hits in her 23rd complete-game of 2017.
The Wildcats opened the top of the first with four straight hits, punctuated by a Jessie Harper grand slam, her 19th homer of the year and second grand slam in a week.
Harper went 2-for-3 with five RBI to lead the charge in the batter’s box while Mandie Perez had three hits and Reyna Carranco added two.
The Wildcats were No. 3 in this week's committee rankings, and have likely put themselves in a position to host both regionals and super regionals for the first time since 2011. The Pac-12 Championship auto-bid clinched Arizona's 31st straight NCAA Tournament appearance, a new NCAA record. The bracket will be revealed on Sunday, May 14 at 7 p.m. MST on ESPN 2.
