Arizona Football Begins Spring Practice

TUCSON, Ariz — We've seen Grant Gunnell play, but we've never heard him speak.

Until now. Arizona Football coach Kevin Sumlin has a policy of not letting freshmen talk to the media. So, even though Gunnell played in eight games last season, post-game interviews were off-limits.

On Monday, the Wildcats began spring practice, and Gunell reflected on the experience he gained from his playing time last fall helps him.

"The environment and the speed of the game," Gunnell said. "Being able to get in there when bullets are flying. It's huge, early in a career, to get that early experience."

Gunnell threw nine touchdown passes with just one interception while splitting time with Khalil Ttate.

"It was tough for both of us. Khalil is like a big brother to me. He was great to me. I just made sure that I was prepared for whenever I was called to come in and have all the answers."

The Wildcats Spring Game is on April 4th.
