Arizona bats come alive against Eastern Kentucky

Freshman Cameron Cannon had four hits and Alfonso Rivas and Jared Oliva each added three as Arizona topped Eastern Kentucky 18-4 Sunday afternoon at Hi Corbett Field.

 

The Cats have now scored 34 runs in their past two games, their highest total in back-to-back affairs since 2008, when the team also scored 34 in back-to-back games against UNLV and South Alabama.

 

Cannon, making his first career start, went 4 for 6 with two RBI and a run scored. Oliva went 3 for 5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Rivas was a perfect 3 for 3 with four RBI, two walks and three runs scored. Matijevic went 2 for 5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Morimoto was 2 for 4 with three RBI and two runs scored.

 

So far through three games this season, Arizona is batting .381 with 45 hits, 14 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 37 RBI.

 

Arizona will look to keep the bats hot for Monday's game, when they go for the sweep of Eastern Kentucky.  First pitch is set  for 10 a.m.
