TUCSON, Arizona — Arizona Athletics isn't competing until January, but the Wildcats are keeping score when it comes to coronavirus testing.

The athletics department's testing and screening includes a total of 169 student-athletes and 86 staff members, and it began on June 8th.

Since that time, five student-athletes have tested positive in the re-entry testing administered to those who have returned to campus. There was one positive test among the staff members on campus. The six individuals who tested positive entered department protocols for self-isolation.

"The results of our testing are an important update to our ongoing re-entry planning and processes for a safe and healthy return to campus," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Dave Heeke.

"I am proud of the compassion, teamwork and determination of all our student-athletes, coaches, staff and campus partners who all play key roles in our re-entry. Arizona Athletics will continue its focus on health, safety and wellbeing in its ongoing re-entry of the entire Wildcat Family."
