The Rio Neuvo Board has authorized $400,000 worth of improvements to the Tucson Convention Center to host an Arena Football Team.
The unnamed team would first have to reach an agreement with its league, the City of Tucson, the TCC, and Rio Neuvo. The team would share its home with the American Hockey League's Tucson Roadrunners, who just completed their second season.
In a statement, Rio Nuevo Board Chairman Fletcher McCusker called arena football an "incredibly exciting" indoor sport.
Phoenix was just awarded a franchise in the new Alliance Football League. It's not yet known if that's the league that is considering a team in Tucson.
