TUCSON, Arizona — "I’m going to be judged after someone writes about this," joked Arizona Women's Basketball head coach Adia Barnes.
Barnes is referring to how long she plans take maternity leave, as she is eight months pregnant with the newest member of the Arizona Wildcat athletic family.
"I’ll probably take about two weeks off. I know, people are like, 'You’re crazy.' I am probably crazy. That’s why I coach."
It’s not as if Barnes doesn’t trust assistant coach Salvo Coppa. After all, he’s her husband.
"It’s not like we’re in the office all day."
Banres says she is due to give birth on September 15th. It was two years ago when she shared the story of her miscarriage. Barnes and Cappo already have one son, Matteo, so she knows about juggling motherhood and basketball.
"I’m a trooper. I can handle it."
