The 2nd seeded Wildcats hadn't played a competitive game of softball for two weeks, but it didn't matter.  As the Wildcats defeated the New Mexico State Aggies 11-0 in 5 innings in their regional matchup at the NCAA tournament.

Katiyana Mauga got the Cats on the board in the bottom of the 1st inning, hitting a 2 run home run.  It was Mauga's 23rd home run of the season, and her 90th career home run.  That ties the pac-12 record.

Danielle O'Toole threw 3 scoreless innings, but Taylor McQuillin finished the shut out for Arizona.  Dejah Mulipolah and Mandie Perez also hit home runs.

Redshirt freshman Alyssa Palomino suffered a torn left ACL, it was announced after the game.  The freshman tore her right ACL on the first day of fall practice last season, missing her freshman year.  Palomino had shown up to practice wearing a knee brace and crutches after injuring her knee in practice the day prior.  She will miss the remainder of the post-season.

Arizona advances to play South Carolina on Saturday at 2pm.  South Carolina defeated St. Francis (PA) 12-2 in 5 innings earlier in the day.
