TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - University of Arizona Football reported to fall camp on Wednesday at the Lowell Stevens Football Facility.

It will be year five of the Rich Rodriguez era. The Wildcats are coming off four consecutive bowl appearances for the first time in school history.  However, after last season's 7-6 record, the team will have a new defensive staff led by coordinator Marcel Yates, who arrives from Boise State.

"When I hired a coordinator, which was a little bit unique, I wasn't looking so much for a scheme," Rodriguez told reporters at Pac-12 media day in July.

The Wildcats allowed over 35 points per game in 2015.

"Because I think schemes are overrated," Rodriguez continued. "I was looking for a personality and attitude. And I kind of set the parameters. But I'm not going to coach it or teach it, I'm going to let my defensive staff to do that."
The Wildcats will have a quarterback competition this fall. Returning starter Anu Solomon will be pushed by Brandon Dawkins.

The team's first practice will be Thursday evening. The first game will be Saturday, September 3rd against BYU at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Arizona is picked to finish fourth in the Pac-12 South preseason poll.
